Keira Knightley

Knightley was born in London, the daughter of Will Knightley and Sharman Mcdonald. Knightley was able to get her first agent when she was just six years old. At that age, she started working in commercials and TV. Knightley played Sabe in a tiny character on the set of Star Wars: Episode I: The Phantom Menace (1998). Her first big breakthrough was when she played a tomboy football player in the sports documentary Bend It Like Beckham (2002) in which she then went on to gain worldwide fame as Elizabeth Swann in the swashbuckler adventure series Pirates of the Caribbean, from 2003. Knightley was considered a promising teenage star after appearing as a character in Love Actually (2003). In her role as Elizabeth Bennet in the period romantic comedy Pride & Prejudice (2005), Knightley was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress. She starred in a number of other period films as a complex love relationship in Atonement (2007), tastemaker Georgiana Cavendish on The Duchess (2008), and the titular socialite of Anna Karenina (2012). In contemporary dramas, she branched out in Begin Again (2013), playing an aspirant singer on Begin Again (2013) and as a physician on Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit (2014). Knightley returned to historic films with The Imitation Game in 2014 and received an nomination to win an Academy Award as Best Supporting Actress.
